Students completing this course will gain the skills and knowledge required to perform a rescue from live low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus in an electrical industry environment. This does not include overhead lines and underground cables. Students will also gain the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR in various situations, including community and workplace settings.

It includes the organisational workplace requirements for the inspection and use of live LV panel rescue equipment, and how it applies to electricity supply industry (ESI) workers and/or electrical industry workers to meet work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS), mobility and mutual aid requirements.

The application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence/registration to practice in the workplace.

Other conditions may also apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements which must be confirmed prior to commencing this unit.

This course is offered as a face-to-face course. Pre-course learning is required.

Course duration​

Pre-course learning duration is 1.5 hour.

For the standard course – Face to Face minimum duration is 4 hours.

Training requirements​

Face to face training consists of theory presentations and range of practical learning activities and scenarios.

Assessment requirements​

Assessment activities will include a knowledge test and practical assessments including risk assessment and performing low voltage rescue procedures. Students will also complete scenarios in a simulated environment.

Assessment activities will include a knowledge test and a practical assessment for CPR techniques.

Course renewal requirements​

The Statement of Attainment is valid for 12 months and should be updated annually.
